A Proposal for the Danish Small Satellite Programme

Ballerina - autonomous pirouettes

Ballerina is designed to react very fast when a Gamma-Ray Burst occur.

Ballerina includes four wide-field cameras which are bound to pick up bright gamma-ray bursts wherever they happen to go off.

Then, within minutes, Ballerina can reorient herself to point the X-ray telescope to the bursting source and dig into its secrets.

Above we show a possible accomodation of the four WATCH cameras and the X-ray telescope on Ballerina. It is a 3D-image which you can manipulate with the mouse to get an impression of how Ballerina can spin around, once a gamma burst is lighting up the Universe.
